Blog #1 or 5 for Coms 301 Summer Session
Hi Gang--For your first posting of the semester, I'd like you to use enumeration to tell us your name and three unique things about yourself. Enumeration is a great way to organize your speeches. I'll go first! (haha, get it???) I would like you to call me Sandra. My last name is Wheeler, I haven't changed over to my husband's last name...I might but I am torn between rebelling against the idea of women always giving up their names and/or identity to get married and the unity it does offer to share a name. Now, instead of talking about myself, let me tell you why enumeration is so cool: First of all, it is a form of sign-posting, which like transitions, is a way to keep the audience informed of where you are in the speech and how your thoughts CONNECT. Secondly, enumeration makes it easier for you as a speech maker not to lose your place and helps you memorize main points. Finally, enumeration is simple and safe for kids of all ages! Your turn, now click on comments below and remember to post as "anonymous," typing your name into your commments so you get credit for this posting!
33 comments:
First of all, my name is Ebony Watkins. Secondly, I am unique because there is no other woman created like me. My husband of nineteen years suddenly died and left me to raise five wonderful boys. Finally, I have learned that life to too short to hold grudges and love last so much longer.
My name is August McBride, and I'm here to tell you three things that make me unique.
First of all: I am a Republican who doesn't steal candy from babies, push down old ladies instead of helping them across the street, and I don't point and laugh at widows and orphans.
Second: I think I'm also unique because I Love Global Warming! I mean summer is freaking great! Look at all the great things about summer: you get the cool song from the movie Grease that wouldn't have been possible without summer; you get to go to the beach, surf, build sand castles, have picnics, and let's not forget about hot chicks in bikinis, hell ya!
Now you tell me 365 days of summer wouldn't kick ass!
And finally: I think I'm unique because I completely care less about Bradangela's new baby, or TomKat's Kit...TomKat's Kitten (sorry I have a hard time writing that name without puking.) or any other Hollywood idiot for that matter.
First of all, my name is Nora Jordan. I moved to California twelve years ago from Ontario Canada when I married my wonderful husband. Secondly, I’m a great party planner, and I love to have lots of fun. Finally, the best accomplishment of my life would be my two year old son. He is the best thing that ever happened to me, and I’m proud to have the title “mommy.”
Greetings, my name is Daniel Farnsworth Paterson but I introduce myself as Danny. First of all I have seen every minute of every World Cup soccer match played in the 2006 tournament. In fact Sweden just scored in the 88th minute to beat Paraguay 1-0. Secondly, the last soccer match I had seen before this was Brazil v Germany on June 30, 2002 in the finals of the last World Cup. Thirdly, I really don't like soccer...unless it's the World Cup.
Hello everyone, my name is Bin Luo. I came frome China three years ago. The purpose I am taking this class is to meet the requirement of GE so that I will transfer by the next spring. Anyway, nice to meet your guys and wish all you good luck.
First of all, my name is Jelena Fortes. Secondly, I'm fresh out of high school, which makes me 18. This is only college class I have ever taken. The other is sociology with Zisk. Finally, on my spare time, I enjoy a laid back day (such as just hanging out)with family and friends because it's more intimate than a party.
Hi!. My name is Janna Jouganatos and First of all, i have an idenical twin sister, we look alike but we are totally different. Secondly and this is pretty funny that makes me unique. I totally wish parts of my life could be made into a montage. I mean seriously i really wish that. Haha. And finally i am unique because im just a really open person. I'm probally too open sometimes, but i always want to try and make other people feel comfortable so what better way to be the open one first. haha. anyways thats me. :)
~~Janna Jouganatos~~
Hi. My name is Andrea Jouganatos and what makes me unique is that I have a twin sister. At least I thought I was unique until I got into this class and then there were more twins. (ha ha lol). Ya but me and my sister are probably the best twins.(ha ha) No I'm just joking. A second thing that makes me unique is that I boxed for almost a year. I loved it and it was the hardest sport I had ever played. Boxing made me feel like I could accomplish anything and made me a stronger person. Sadly I have taken a break because of school and work, but I will be back in the ring again sometime. Thirdly I think I'm unique because my motto in life is treat people the way you would like to be treated. I think everyone should be treated fairly and not be judged by the outside, but only the inside.
~Andrea Jouganatos
Hi, this (Bin Luo) again. The first unique thing I possess is the different culture. Second, this summer I am taking 4 courses at 3 different colleges:
ARC,SCC,CRC. Finally, I am the man who is easy to approach.
Hola! my name is Zulma Ramos but I prefer to be called Zuli as I stated on Thursday before I gave my first speech. First I would like to confess my self by saying that I support Sandra's idea of not changing my last name to my husband's...why?...why is always women the ones who have to be in the spot of having to change or give everything up???? starting with the name, the body(when pregnant/hormones/partum,ect.), the job (for maternity leave) and sometimes some friends because there are places that you cannot take your children(no sitter); and that is only some of the changes we as women go thru in life. I've been married for almost 12 years and I still use my father's name, he brought me to this world, you know, not my husband.
Second I like to mention that I'm proud to be latina(Mexican) for the fact that we have the benefit of being able to communicate with a much more extend community, by knowing 2 languages.
And last but not least I like to say that I am a proud mother of 3 beautiful girls. They are the reason for me to keep going in life. I would do anything for them.
Perhaps they are the reason why my favorite color is pink. My girls mean so much for me, because of them, I have learn so much in life, from becoming a mom, a nurse, a detective, a stylist, a cook, a teacher, a friend. I wouldn't ever change my life. I am who I am because of my three little angels, god sent me!
Hello classmates, my name is Chester Cruz. I don't know exactly what makes me unique. Anyway, having an angelic face with evilish character makes me unique or vice versa. Secondly, I am a nature lover and then I am addicted to running.
What's up guys! my name is Sean Torres; First of all i want to say our first speech was a lot of, ireally had a great time, eventhough i kinda choke he..he... anyways hmmm... about me i just moved here from the Philippines just a couple of years ago; since i've been here a lot of thing changed, not actually the place the only difference between the Phil. and U.S. is that it is way cleaner out here. Secondly Uniqueness, i don't even know if i'm unique maybe, maybe not. Lastly this is my first time blogging it sims like fun, not i can call me self a blogger!!! Good luck to everyone!
Hello Class!
My name is Stephanie Sawhill and I'd like to tell you 3 ways that make me unique.
To start, I'm the first person in my family to attend college. This is important to me because I have huge goals and I want to prove to myself, as well as my family, that you must work very hard and never give up in order to accomplish them.
Second, I never stop going. I keep going and going and going. People who know me refer me to the Energizer bunny. Being this way is what makes me never bored. I can ALWAYS find something to do. Sometimes I wonder if I have adult ADD. :)
Third, most importantly, I have a wonderul husband and 3 healthy, beautiful children. I have been married for 11 years in July and he has supported me through the many changes in my life. My children are a blessing. They are truely God's gift to me. They mean the world to me as they are who give me my strength to succeed.
Well, Good Luck to everyone this semester as I keep reminding myslef that we are all in this together.
This is fun, I am really enjoying getting to know you all better on the blog! I hope the practice with enumeration will help you organize your next speech --the after dinner speech, due next Thursday! See ya in class--Your Blogging Leader (Sandra)
Hi, I would like would you to call me Lindsey. My last name is Statham I took my father’s name when I adopted me when I was ten years old. First thing I would like to share is my passion for photography. I began taking photos as a freshman in high school and I loved it so much I just kept taking photos. I plan on becoming a photographer as my profession. I love to take photos for people and seeing the look on their face when I show the pictures to them the first time. Second, I have a fascination for classic cars. I grew up being around old classics. I would like to own a couple of my own some day. Finally, I love to work. I work at a coffee shop and I do not even like coffee but I love my job. I enjoy the fast pace and the conversations with the regular customers that come in.
Lindsey Statham
My name is Stefanie Cartwright.
The first thing that is unique about me is my name. Not that the name Stefanie is in any way unique and different, on the
...sorry about that...
...contrary, Stefanie is one of the most boring American names there is. The way the Stefanie is spelled with an "f" rather than the traditional "ph" makes the speeling unique. I can thank my parents for allowing everyone and my mom to constantly spell my name wrong.
My second unique talent, which you guys have already seen demonstrated is my uncanny knack for pushing buttons involuntarily. The "login and Publish" button was to tempting to resist. Put a button in front of me and I will push it. Ever seen one of those big red button with the all caps letters that say "DON'T PUSH!!!", yeah, I don;t want to brag or anything, but I've push it. J/K haha
The third unique thing about myself, is kinda quirky, but its gotta be my love of bank policy. As weird as this may sound, I thrive on my ability to absorb, retain, and quote bank policies. Now this is not a complete psychotic tendancy becasue I do work in a position of authority at a bank. But have you ever know someone to seek out situations in which thay can identify a regualtion to quote?? Yeah, I may be the first.
Hello, my name is Daniel Serrano and this is my second year in college. I consider myself pretty unique because I am me, and I don't try to be anyone I am not. I love watching sports, all of my little free time goes to watching ESPN. Lastly, I love working out at the gym, and I hope I could get into the shape where I can play a sport when I transfer to Sac State University.
My full name is Kelleigh Kathleen Mullen. You can thank my parents for that long winded name. But...on the plus side the exact translation of my name is Lively, aggressive pure, clear, innocent, related to the founding twins of Ireland. My last name being related to the twins of Ireland is really just a theory. My last name has many theories really. But that was not the reason why I am typing out this long winded speech.
I am here firstly to discuss the fact that I do not learn the regular way at all. Don't believe me? Alright, how many people here learned to graph the third dimension by drawing boxes? Or learned how to read by spelling first? I'm guessing very few of you.
Secondly, I am artistic by nature though I am a below average drawing artist. I make up for it by collecting my friends, and occasionally strangers art work. Of course that was much simpler when I was living and going to school in San Francisco. To give you a scope of how artistic I am (no, I'm not doing this to sound cocky, just to give perspective) I write songs - even sung a few, written novels, work on an online comic, do photography, graphic design is my life - I can't stand to see a blank binder or blank anything really..., I design clothes and can sew - though I don't have too much patience, been designing quilts for my mother since I was six, and I can paint. I can do other things besides artistic matters like fixing a car.
The very last thing I would like to share is the fact that I am a gamer. Yes, the sad unfortunate fact is that I am a female gamer geek. I play PS2 games, own a Nintendo DS & several games, multiple playing card games, Magic! The Gathering, Legend of the Five Rings, LARP Masquerade & am learning LARP Requiem, tabletop versions of Werewolf - would love to play LARP version of Apocolypse though. I also love to play board games, my very favorite is Clue. Which could explain why I convinced my parents to let me turn their house into a murder mystery set later this summer.
I thank you for you time and listening to the continuous babbling of an overly excitable girl.
Hiyee guys!!! I'm Danielle Dinah Dela Cruz of Coom 301 class... hehehe, long name huh?!? my Dad really tortured me that much (His name is also Daniel!) Anyways, first of all, this is not the first time I tried Blogging... Done it so many times!! ^_^ I have a Friendster account (like a Myspace too!!) so I got a little practice.. My Name Is Rovetta Johnson, and my name alone make me unique. I have three children( or should I say 2 teens and a preteen.LOL), I work full-time and two summer classes. I'm either unique or crazy. People tell me I am funny and should be a comedian. This is the perfect class. I hope to overcome my fear of public speaking, or any situation with all eyes on me.

Hi everybody. My name is Rocio Banuelos. The first thing that makes me unique is my name A lot of people do not know how to pronounce it or even spell it. That's alright I am used to it:) It's common in Mexico. It means "the mist in the morning" in Spanish. Secondly, I am the first generation in my family to attend college and chose one that was out of state. Lastly,I just came back from visiting Nicaragua, which was a life changing experience.
Howdy partners!! I would like to start out this blog thing by saying that my name is Brandy McCants. The first thing I find unique about myself is that I love dogs every shape and every kind they are the cutest animal that has ever existed and I hope to have one puppy to call my own someday! The second thing is my passion to serve others. I find a sense of joy and accomplishment when I can help someone in need. The last thing I would say is my tendenacy to love hard and long even though a lot of the time when I do that the love is neverfully reciprocated.
Haaay you guys! There are three things on my mind right now that I would like to share with you. Number 1, my name comes from both of my grandfather’s names one was Calixto and the other was Abel. The Ca in my name came from Calixto and the bel came from Abel. Number 2, I have one sister, one dad, one mom, one grandma, and 9 cats living in my house. Number 3, I’m a fruit person I like lots of different fruits but especially pineapple, and other tropical fruits. You should eat fruit it is good for you and you don’t have to cook it and you wont get fat off of it. You should also eat pineapple until you get the acid on your tongue and you can’t taste any more.

Hello everyone, I'm Steve Tacang. First of all, I was named after my father, so... that would make me a Jr.
Secondly, I was born in Berlin, Germany. I guess thats cool. And last but not least, I make beats and sell them for a profit. hahaha...
peace out!
First off, my name is Nate Mitchell. Secondly, you should all know and properly understand that I am extraordinarily unique, outspoken, and articulate. Finally, you should all know that I live and breathe politics, and while I understand that none of you like the subject matter, I'll most likely bring it up at some point. :)
Hi everyone my name is Higinio, pronounced ee-hee-nee-o... Yeah I know it's hard so I just go by Niko my nickname. Anyway, Three things that make me unique are: 1) is that I just moved here four years ago from Mexico City, 2)Usually when people learn a second language the first thing they learn is to understand it (listening), speak it, read it and lastly write it; Well in my case I learned how to write english before I knew how to speak or orally understand it. The last thing that makes me unique is that I am the youngest of 8 siblings and the only one to go to college; so my mom and my entire family have all their hopes on.
Yeah that's basically it. ohh and MY BIGGEST FEAR IS TO SPEAK IN ENGlISH IN FRONT OF A CLASS so you guys can imagine how hard this class is going to be for me.
See yall in class.
Hi ya'll. My name is Jennifer Sathe (or Jenn for short) and I'm here to tell you a little bit about myself, and the things that make me unique. First of all, I love all kinds of music. Except for the screaming stuff. (Ew... sorry...no offense, its just not happy music to me.) I know every country song ever written and sang, as well as every emo pop rock and bubblegum pop song in the book. Not to mention, I can tell you the artist and title of most classic rock songs. Secondly, I have the most complex family I know of. On top of having a twin sister, (which I’ve yet to find the good in this) I have a step brother and a half sister who isn’t really my half sister anymore since my dad and step mom (which makes her my ex-step mom now) divorced. I also have a step father, and another step sister I've never met before. Third, and for my final unique attribute, is that I’m an avid baseball fan. So much so, that I frequently watch Sportscenter at nights to get the highlights of the days games, almost always vetoing whatever most of the "guys" are watching, I can't count on my fingers OR toes how many games I’ve been to, and even though they aren’t exactly a good team, I’m a huge Giants fan...born and raised. (No groaning allowed.) (:

ok here goes... There are three major things I can think of that made me unique and different from everyone else.. First, I'm a Girl!! ok... a girl, who loves to hang out with everybody whether group of girls boys or whatever...^_^ meaning, I'm flexible when it come to my behavior or attitude with everyone else.. Second, I love sports!! you may think, "Yeah right, and she's fat!!!" whatever!!! I used to be so into sports back in high school.. I'm a swimmer, I play softball, volleyball and a bit of tennis.... I only got fat when I came here in America ok?!? Last but not the least, I love computers... and computer games or video games.. meaning I'm a game freak also!!! so hopefully, one day the whole class can go out and have fun and we can play some games.... that's all for now... bye guys...good luck!!
DaNi D.
Hi Dani,
I'm not sure if you will get to read this, but I know what you mean about getting fat since moving to America. When I left Canada I was 120 pounds, and now, I'm not 120 pounds anymore. :) To much indulgence. God Bless the USA!!!!
Oops, I forgot to sign off on my message. The over weight Canadian is me. Nora Jordan. :)
