3rd Class Post: Listening and Audience

Hi Everyone! Since we are focussing on listening and audience, get creative with this blog and compose a four-line poem (preferably rhyming!) about rude listeners, using at least one vocabulary word from chapter 4 (capitalize it please). I'll lead the way, my poetic pals! Have a great week, loved your film reports!!!--The Masked Blogger

TITLE: "ODE TO MY AUDIENCE"

LISTENING CAN BE ACTIVE AND NEAT,
SO SMILE AND NOD WHEN I MAKE MY SPEECH.
BEEBE AND BEEBE SAY:LISTEN WITH YOUR EYES
SO IF YOURS ARE CLOSED, MY CONFIDENCE DIES!

Listen carefully to UNDERSTAND. If you don't than raise your hand. So don't try to pretend, try to attend.

GIVE ME A CHANCE!

THROW MY WORDS AWAY BUT NOT ME
YOUR PREJUDICE I DON'T SEE AS MEAN
BEEBE AND BEEBE TAUGHT THAT TO ME
THE LEGEND OF PRECONCEIVED OPINION

"A Speakers Command"

I have finished writing my speech,
and I have one command,
That you are attentive to my words
for my message you'll UNDERSTAND.

"Speech Almighty!"

Provide strong FACTS for EVIDENCE,
or enough info to make an INFERENCE.
Otherwise include some LOGIC and REASONING,
to leave the audience CRITICALLY THINKING.

Audience, audience, they want more,

Facts and stats without color,

such a bore,

If you think I'm kidding, just ask Al Gore !

He couldn't be President, marketing was such a bore,

But with his inconveniently captivating movie, Global Warming's Fat Balloon he will gore ! ---- Paul DeLong... you may be sorry, I love writing, you may have created a "poem monster," Sandra ! LOL

Responding to audience types on p. 99:

Captive we may be, but interested we are,
With each other's support, we will go far,
We can be favorable about each other's approach,
Because our instructor has created an environment beyone and without reproach,

And thus I'm inspired to go beyond,
To win the will of the people and class of which I've already gotten fond,
And I'm sure there's some who are still undecided about me,
but with entertaining disposition, I plan to reverse attitudes of unfavorability !
Because I will adapt, with open ended questions,
And get my act together, with responsive expressions,
In the end I plan to leave earfuls of thoughtful positive impressions!---Paul DeLong :)

It is one thing to listen and another thing to hear.

But I want you to listen, so i can keep you near.

Say i promise what i say will be intersting it will be music to your ear.

As he stood giving his message
I sat there fighting to monitor my reaction to his meassage
Should have known if I had identify my listening goals?
At the end, I asked myself what was his gaols?

The Before Thought

If you are PREJUDICE to my speach
If you judge me before I speak
You won't learn what I have to teach
But if your attention I do peek
You may love my little speach

If you are lost just grab ahold,

My words can take you to a place so bold.

A place closed off to PREJUDICE

Be sure to open your mind and ears so the glory, you wont miss.

LISTEN!!

A good audience uses critical listening. For reasons I don't need to mention.

If you read chapter 4, page 70 you'd know, its not nice if you start to snore.

Who's to say, the better cause?
But this news will give you pause!

Listen up ! The party's going up. stay awake to hear what's up. Don't nod off and be at "duh" when you start waking up.

Hmm... my poem did not post right, my apologies, so here is another:

Who's to know the better cause,
But still, I hope this gives Bono pause,
A speaker, checking world wide wants,
Betted going global would create huge newspaper fonts,
With two Ex-presidents making a good credibility,
Since they Have good will, clout amd mondo celebrity,
The lights were on,
Microphones jacked,
And on the table 3 billion was stacked!
In one giant monetary gesticulation,
Sir Richard Branson will exceed all other climatic donations!
And knowing that "no more" would be people's fear,
Bill Clinton's pressing for more each year!
What's the cause that makes Gore smile?
Alternative energy, reducing greenhouse all the while !
I can't give this man enough in praise,
He may help earth see better days.
You too, can check and be amazed,
the website's proof the poparazi should follow his craze!

How did this all happen?
Gore went to Branson's home,
He told Branson he was important, and his persistance struck to the bone.
Who was the better listener, I wonder?
Like trying to decide which is faster, lightning or thunder. --Paul DeLong
