Earth Day comes 1 day a year, every year. Perhaps we should expand our mindset so that Earth Day can last 365 days a year. Anyhow, my family recycles. I admit that we did not recycle until we had the large recycling/paper waste recepticle out on the side of our house. We also re-use our grocery bags for poop duty, book covers, and lunches. As soon as my last light bulb is used (I have two left over), we are going to change over to the new energy saving bulbs. Hopefully these efforts in some way make up for my truck!

I wat to try those cool low energy bulbs too, Oprah says you save big bucks on your bill as soon as you switch over--they are on sale at Orchard Supply right now! Smiles--Sandra
as mention by Darcie we have changed our light bulbs to the new energy savings bulbs to save big money. As a result of that we have seen some savings in our bills. Everyone should play their part in turning lights off when it's not in use. I give the childen five points for remembering to trun the lights off when they are not in use. fatana
All i can say is that i pretty much do my part in recycling items that can be recycled. For instance, i recycle my oil, aluminum cans and most other important materials. I also grew up with the mentality of turning off the lights when a room is not in use. Lately most retailers expose the energy efficient bulbs more profoundly that the other. Some things make more of a difference with little or no change in effort... it's the mentality and carelessness in which we choose to act upon... think about it....

I think my family does a pretty good job at recycling. My mom loves collecting cans and in return she gets money back. We reuse every single paper or plastic bags for everything. We haven't change our light bulbs yet, but we will soon. I'm planning to get me a hybrid Honda...after I sell my car first of course. Recycling is a wonderful thing. Power to the Earth! :-)

I am recycling more. I have gone part way florescent light bulbs. I attempt to limit car trips. I buy organic local foods at the Co-op. Sacramento Natural Foods Coop is a great place for your "greenergy" to begin.

For me I think of my self as a country boy. When I was growing up I would visit my grandparents who live on a farm, and as a youth I was a Boy Scout. So I was always close to nature. It is part of the Boy Scout creed to blend in with nature and don't try to upset your surrounding. I take that thinking into my everyday life.
The party line today is to protect and honor your mother earth. I have always been doing that. The concept is not new to people who are close to nature (camper, outdoors people).
The part about saving money by using recycleable goods is just good sense and it is thrifty a Boy Scout code.
One of the best way to persuade other is by example that is how I encourage others.

There are many things that we can do not only on Earth day. We shouldn't just be extra mind full one day but every day. Trying to always save energy like the light bulbs, driving less, shutting off things like the T.V. or lights or even the a/c. That last one isn't too hard for me because growing up in the country and our house being old we didn't even have a/c, to get cool it was sitting outside in the shade or going to the basement of the house.

What do you use for trash. Perhaps you search the isles of the stores for a perfect trash bag. Have you considered reusing your grocery bags as trash bsgs. I use them and they are perfect. There is no reason why not. Have you considered changing your light bulbs to energy saving bulbs. They do the same job but cause less.HOw about your bottles and cans. They are called "CRV" because they have values attarched to them. These and more are the reasons why I recycle, reuse, and save energy. Think global warming. Think Earth Day.There is nothing to loose. There is much to gain. Save the planet. Save the Earth.Recycle, reuse. I do. How about you.

I don't know when I started to recyle used stuffs. Actually, I made it as my habit every time I drink coke or water, I save the tin cans and plastic bottles in order to have some extra money. I changed 6 low energy bulbs in the bath room. Hopfully, I might save some money on this month bill as Sandra mentioned.

I started doing recycling a few years ago. I usually put all my gabbage in the gabbage can without seperating them. But after reading and hearing how important it is to recycle I do so now. We recycle our grocery bags this days. We bought a new house last year and it was equipped with energy saving bulbs. Besides recycling I tried to wash clothing late in the evenings or at night. I also turn off lights and sometimes my computers when not in use. I have recently started tellig my friend who does not like recycling to start doing so afterall what more can we do but help and protect the environment in which we live in.
well in my house we have a new lighting system with energy saving light bulbs. i don't know if there is a change in the electric bill. i have always been a green person proably because of my asthma and that i live in sacramento. i always try to recyle it's hard for me thought because i have an older mom that doesn't understand. I hate driving and drive as less as possible. when i take my friend to work at the mall i try to stay with her so that i don't hae to make a double trip. # one gas is expensive and #2 the green house effect. since Americans are more educated on this issue we should help out as much as possible.

I also reuse garbage bags. I compost and recycle also. Bet you all would have guessed all that already though! Not to mention it is my religion to take care of the earth (that is what we worship!)
