The art of persuasion is definitely a good thing. It takes someone really inspirational to truly be a master at persuasion. Sometimes, people need that little extra push. Indecisiveness is like a plague that wastes time and energy. I definitely respect people that are able to sway people's decisions, it takes alot to make that happen. For me, a law professor that I took a few classes with, persuaded me to actually become more active towards my goal of going to law school. Now I'm reviewing LSAT test strategies and looking at my path towards being a lawyer. I remember a few times after class, we would talk about how he taught at Georgetown and attended Oxford, his story just inspired me so much i had an epiphany that I wanted to become a lawyer. The real inspring thing about him is that he's a practicing attorney that passed the California BAR at 23.

I believe that persuasion is good. It takes skills and talents to be able to convince somebody successfully. I highly respect the people who can influence others' stance. My writing instructor at SCC has been instrumental to me. She convinced me that writing can be learned(I always have fear in writing- just as I always have fear in public speaking). I'm still trying to improve my writing skills, but at least I "think" I have the potential??? It did not take much for her to convince me... She has a great credibility. She had also worked as an editor from a big publisher for several years.
Best of all, I believe that she is a great communicator.

Persuasion is not a bad thing in and of itself. But the messages can be. If a message is unethical it can be devastating to the individual or to the society that accepts it. Take for instance moral relativism or the belief that every individual's moral decisions are completely personal and subjective. According to Vincent Ruggerio's book "thinking critically about ethical issues" This was actually taught in the early 60's and some ethicist thought this thinking would lead to a breakdown in our society's moral foundation. In my opinion this "anything goes" attitude has made our society weaker, but of course that is debateable. My point on the power of persuasion can be summed up in the a buddist saying that "to every man is given the key to the gates of heaven. the same key opens the gates to hell." Persuation is that key, most of us have to some extent, for we all will persuade someone to do something in our lifetimes, whether large or small we don't know but It's how we use that key that opens doors to peace and life or war and death. So, i hope i have persuaded you all to be more Skeptical and don't take any message without some critical thinking or research on your part, yet don't be afraid to speak up, just REALLY think about what you're going to say before you say it. As for the person who has persuaded me most, i'd have to say Jesus' with his message of tolerance and love has guided me to become a better person throughout my life. Although, i am only human.

Persuasion is a great thing. It allows for the possibility of change...good to bad, and unfortunately, vice versa. If someone is able to persuade me, I may be resentful of having to let go of thoughts, &/or beliefs that I was holding on to, but they should certainly be respected for having rationalized and appealed to me in such a way that did result in persuading me to change my mind and/or opinion. For example, a radio DJ was discussing the advantages and disadvantages of online bill pay. I have always been wary of conducting too much financial transaction on the Internet. However, the DJ talked about advance technology which allowed for safer banking, about less paper usage, etc., but the last selling point was the fact that stamps now cost $.41 each!I signed up for online bill pay the next day.

I believe persuasion is an effective way to get your message across and getting people to take action. For example, persuading today's youth to become more active rather than playing video games or persuading people to do something beneficial. I respect these forms of persuasion. On the other hand, persuasion can ultimately become an annoyance if the persuader is stubborn or unwilling to stop persuading. For example, you can't walk through the game area of the State Fair without being pressured left and right to play their games. In this situation, I have learned to just avoid making eye contact.
Although I cannot think of a specific moment of someone effectively persuading me, I can think of many highly effective infomercials. These programs are masterfully effective in persuading the audience to buy their products. Most of these infomercials make it seem as if their products are "too good to be true" (though, most of these products are too good to be true). Nevertheless, their level of persuasion is masterfully superb.

Persuasion is either because it depends on its purpose, which could also be the basis for strenght or weakness.it is an art of expressing your ideas through words that are put together in a flawless manner and let it sway people from a totally different point to another.there are a lot of things to consider, that is why persuasion could not just be put out there with no critical thinking or whatsoever that will make it flawless(or close to it).without credibility, the message one expresses does not persuade, rather inform the audience of emotion; true meaning and concept were left out.
a lot of people had persuaded me in different ways and all for different reasons.I could only remember a persuasion if it was really good,or really bad.For example,my ex boyfriend persuaded me to believe in the strenght that lies deep within me.how did he do it? it wasn't only the words but the action, and not in a good way.never in a good way.all the pain i had dealt with him, both physical and emotional, had finally made me decide to never let anyone ruin me again;that persuaded me to built my strenghts around my weaknesses, just to protect me and my loved ones from him.
that kind of persuasion is a bad one though.it's not the professional message-giving kind of persuausion, but it definitely persuaded me to be as strong as i can be.

We are faced with the voice of persuasion in our daily lives – be it at the grocery store or simply watching television. I believe that persuasion can be viewed as either good or bad because it is used by either good or bad people, with good or bad intentions, and with good or bad consequences. This being said, persuasion can make us grateful or resentful to the persuader depending upon the outcome.
I have to admit that, at times, I can easily be persuaded. I remember being coerced into buying an overpriced magazine subscription from a door-to-door salesman. The only reason he enticed me was through guilt. He started off by flattery, then, he went on by telling me his sad story about relocating here from New Orleans due to the Hurricane Katrina disaster. Although reluctant about the validity of his story, I gave in especially after he mentioned that he had young children to support.

Persuation isn't good or bad thing that it depends on who is able to persuade and the purpose of that persuation. I respect my sister, chemical engineering. She always persuade me to try studying in any difficult situations.Through her successful life, her persuasion has influenced my thoughts and my life. Her words and actions help me to have more powder and confidence in studying.
Beside good persuasion, I have been persuaded by bad men with sweet words. They persuade me to do good something for them but it isn't good for me.Therefore, I always care the purpose of persuasions. Be careful!!!!

Persuasion could be a good or bad thing depending on who's using it and for what. But most of the persuasion i see around me is bad. I dont really like people who persuade other people into doing stuff they usually wouldn't do. For me, it was the guy at the dealership last week. My friend(Aj) and i went to get a car for him last weekend. We picked out a car and Aj test drove it. He thought it was alright but it wasn' the car he wanted. The car dealer kept telling us about all the features on the car and how fast it is. He finally convinced Aj to purchase the car. What really got us was that he would lower the price.

Persuasion can be good and bad at the same time. I have had both good and bad experiences. Let me tell you about the good experience.I thing that my car salesman did a good job convincing me to buy the truck that i own today. The reason i bought the truck because he convinced me about the features of the truck, and he talked to his manager to lower the price and included some extra features.

I think persuasion can be a great thing or it can at times be very harmful. What I mean by this is it is a great thing if I am the one doing it or if someone is persuading someone to do anything positive. It can be a bad thing though if a person or group of people persuade someone to do something bad such as drugs or crime ect... If I allow someone to persuade me it is fine because I allowed it. I tend not to be easily manipulated into doing things.
Yes I can believe class is almost over. Even though it has been fun it will be nice to be done.

It is good to have persuasion skill. Since scarcity always exists in our world, so people always have to face decision-making. In humanity, when making decision, we always have to choose this or that, in such cases, persuative person is needed beside us. Somehow I don't really respect people who try to persuade me because I am a very subjective person, there are not so many people can really change my mind once I have made my own choice. No matter how stubborn I am, I once had been persuaded by my Accounting professor. I was deciding which univeristy I should transfer. I was thinking about study managerial economics or accounting and I tend to the first one more. But with more career opportunities, better business program and cheaper tuition for the school, the Accounting professor persuaded successfully choosing Accounting major. His talk inspired me to think about the further future.

Persuasion can either be good or bad. It is good if the persuasion leads to a positive outcome. For example, the speech about global warming. As an audience, I was persuased to use less electricity at home and by doing that, I am helping in reducing global warming which is a positive outcome. So on the other hand, persuasion is bad if it leads to a negative consequence. Like for example, shopping shopping shopping! Every month, I receive a lot of brochures of online shopping stores. Just by looking at it, I get easily persuased to buy those stuff in those brochures. As a result, I get to spend and waste money for stuff that I don't really need but just buy them because they're so cute (hehe).
The art of persuasion trully affects people's lives. It is mostly where your decisions come from!!!

So interesting you people! My friend Georgine always convinces me to go to Arden Faire Mall, eventhough I HATE it there! How does she do it? She flatters me into believing I am such a great fashion advisor that she NEEDS me!Whatever!!! Haha -- lol--Sandra
I believe that persuasion can be both good and bad. Persusasion is good if it is not unethical message. For example, Martin Luther king persusasion the people to brave and believe in themself that on day we will end slavery and segragation. Therefore, if the message is sent in a postive way, I believe that persuasion is good thing.

Persuasion is an art and it is a good thing. I respect any one who can persuade me but this someone has to have very strong arguments in order to persuade me. My philosophy teacher persuaded me that life isn't just appearance. For example, on the parking lot at SacCity somebody left a note on my car saying "Asshole learn how to park." The 'nice' person who left the note did not realize that at the time i parked my car there was somebody's car parked on two spots and I simply didn't have a choice but to park my car the way I did. At the time 'nice' person wanted to park his/her car the car that blocked me from parking the right way was gone, so the 'nice' person rushed to notify me that I have to learn to park. When I told this story to my philosophy teacher she persuaded me that I have to take this incident as an example that life isn’t just appearance.

Persuasion is a good thing in our modern day. This particular art of speech is very difficult to master and can be very beneficial to society when events calls for a collective decision such as presidential election, laws and bills, etc. I do appreciate speakers that can persuade me to a particular side, as i have understand the difficulty of this task. Sometimes, my friends and family can persuade to me do certain things such as picking a certain major or why i should take up this certain hobby. Their ways of persuading me is by having personal reference, inflection of certain words, and showing confidence in speaking.

I think persuasion can either be good, or bad. It really depends on how the persuasion is presented in the speech; or in conversation. If you are confident and positive in you persuasion, this should come
across in your speech, or conversation. The speaker that I can remember that persuaded me to change my ways of life from self to christ controlled-living a christian way of life. The speaker
was Billy Graham, the great evangelist. He is a great persuader of christ. I believe he has a gift from God. Also, his son-now takes over. I think its great that class will be over soon.
It went by fast, and now I look forward to the break before fall.

i had this roommate couple of years ago, and he is good at persuading. but i hated how he persuades people. because he will never stop trying until you agree with he, or you get mad at hem... and even if you get mad at him, he will come back to you in a couple of days, yeah, so the best way is just agree with him at the beginning.

Hmm, well i guess it depends on what someone is trying to persuade me of that determines whether or not I'll respect it or resent it. For me, it's the most peruasive is when it's the most personal; I'll be more open to someone who appears "down-to-earth" & is just being honest about their opinion than someone who takes a stand to represent the whole world, you know? For me it's sincerity- even though everyone whose ever tried to convince me of something didn't, I respected those I agreed with as well as those I didn't because both still were just as honest & sincere in their stand. I'll believe you if what you're saying you believe simply because you do, not because everyone else does with you. =)

Persuation can either be a good or a bad things depending on how far u take it. Its ok to persuade someone but you can only go so far and then you have to say enough is enough. People don't mind hearing what someone has to say but at the same time when your mind is made up its made up and I don't think it should be anyones business whether the person does what the other person is trying to persuade them to do or not.

I think persuasion required a knowledgable base and generally it is good to have this skill of speech in our live. When we are dealing with problems or making a decision, we always want to suggest our own idea to persuade others. I have had experienced persuading by others, and one of the most memorial experiences is from my organic chemistry professor. His persuading skill is good and without harmful message. I was talking with him about changing my major, and all he told me is a short story about the experience that my target major will be in the future. By his experience on science career, I have no doubt that I should not change my major again and focused on the path of science.

Persuasion I think is neutral not good or bad. The motivation of the one persuading decides whether it is good or bad. People can be decived easily by persuasion, and people can be brought to greater levels of understanding through persuasion. I have experienced both the positve and negative aspects of persuasion. When I was in highschool peer pressure and giving in to what "every one else does" persuaded me more times than I wanted. The funny thing about me becoming a christian is no one had to persuade me. My friends, however, tried to persuade me that I found religion or something; or that I needed a crutch. I persuaded them that I needed a Savior, Jesus Christ. We still have moments where we go back and forth with persuasion. But I truly believe that it is what motivates you to persuade. With persuasion the ends don't justify the means. It really is how you do it and why?
Chad Lobato
Persuasion can be both good and bad. I have always respected a professional persuader. a person who shows facts and persuades another to make a positive judgement about a positive thing. But, again in my younger days I was easily persuaded to do things I should not have done. Some being things that I would come to regret in the future. Persuasion is not a bad thing, but to those in the audince, they should not become easily persuaded unless they are making a wise decision, and not one out of impulse.
Ryan Sack
Persuasion can be either good or bad. Why? Because it has always been a natural conflict with its prime example being words of wisdom given to children by a parent only to find out that their kids dumbest friend has persude them to do the very thing in which they preached for or against in the first place.
Speaking of parents, I think that both of mine to this very day have the power to persude me. One thing that you must understand is that I am the baby child in my family and no matter how old I think I am, their words are impounded in my brain for better or worse. These loveable creatures have tormented my judgement for so long that I can actually visualize both parents in my head before making a sound decision. One thing that will remain with me for the rest of my life is that persuasion in the end becomes a call made by your own sound judgement and reason. I do believe in my heart that that was what they wanted me to learn and conclude on my own.

well. if someone is able to persuade me, i'd gladly give them props. but just so you know im really easy to persuade. if someone tells me to buy a certain product, and tell me that it can do this and that, i totally would. i dont know why but im always curios if what they're saying is true or not. but i gues its to my own knowledge anyways. because there are truethfull people who only wants the best for your money and the others who tries to scam you for your money. well if they are able to back up their products with infos and answer any questions then its good enough for me.
oh yea, forgot BIG TIME! the 5:51pm one's mine.
