T/TH Only: Persuasive Speaking: Call for Change!
Hi there everyone--Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving! In class on Tuesday we discussed attitudes, beliefs and values. Values are the most difficult to change in your audience -- they are deeply grounded in our identities. An attitude change might be more realistic for you 6-8 minute class speech. For this blog, describe a time in your life when a moving experience changed an attitude that you formerly held. Also, let's discuss any questions you have about creating the speeches here on this blog, do you have a good attention getter? Transitions written on your outline? Oral citations (3) and visuals (2)? Are the visuals large enough to be seen? Remember, end memorably by suggesting how the audience can act upon your persuasion (go out and vote, buy something, donate something, get married/stay single, join a club, quit smoking, etc)

Watch the above video clip on You Tube and let me know if it persuades you to think or feel any particular way and why. How is this young man's story persuasive? If you had to state a thesis for this story, what would it be?--Blogging Turkey
