Amazing You-Tube Clip: Persuasion

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qTiYA1WiY8

Watch the above video clip on You Tube and let me know if it persuades you to think or feel any particular way and why. How is this young man's story persuasive? If you had to state a thesis for this story, what would it be?--Blogging Turkey

WOW! That was wonderful. The video clip shows a lot a passion. It persuaded me to get kleenex when I saw Patrick play at a young age:) I actually put myself in Patrick's and his father's shoes. His father sacrificed a lot to help his son. My thesis would be: A child born with disabilites will be able to accomplish great thing with the support from a loving, caring family. Thanks for sharing this clip.

Oh my goodness! I actually caught this segment last year before the Louisville v. Rutgers football game. So moved, I called friends and made them swear they'd watch the second showing of Sportscenter after the game! Words really escape me on this one, it's simply awe-inspiring. When I think about all the advantages we have, and we may never accomplish half of what Patrick Henry already has. I guess i should only speak for myself, but yeah, thinking of PHH can really inspire me when i think, "oh there's no way I can get through this. Life's tough. Whah, whah, whah." And what kind of Rock Star is PHH's dad!!! That's a MAN, folks. And Carla, if your kleenex can bear a little more use check out PHH's ESPY acceptance speech. (it's one of the related videos on the original youtube link.)

It’s a touching story that fills one's heart with wonder, joy, and other feelings that are hard to express in words. To see someone exceed and excel in life with so many challenges is truly inspiring. Not only is that touching but to see the love that exist between him and his father is amazing in and of itself. It makes a person desire to achieve more and complain less in life by seeing such an inspiring person. It’s a wonderful story, thanks for sharing it. It helped me to take a new look at my life and wonder what I've made of it.

This was a great story. It reminded me that it is important to embrace our differences. Whether in myself or others, and especially those qualities or characteristics that aren't obviously convenient or embellishing, this clip encouraged me to trust that there is great value in the uniqueness of each of us. This perspective makes for a much more beautiful look at people and the world.

I almost make me cry for Patrick, he and his father are both amazing. It remind me the setence " I complain because I don't have a shoe until I see someone doesn't have a feet." No body know what a new baby would born of, but everyone can control their lives. My thesis would be:don't give up when you are lack of passion, if someone with disability can do it, you can't I?

These kind of things remind me of how thankful i should be and glad that i am healthy and young. Honestly this clip brought on a great flash of emotions but the biggest one was happenies. Its amazing to see how hard his father tries to help his child and the relationship between them is just amazing. I just wish all fathers had such a connection with their kids, that their lives would interwine so much. I'd say the theses should be "There are no disabilities only oppertunitys."

it makes you think of what is really inportant in your life and that we all are really lucky compared to alot of people out there. He plasy music so beautifly and it was just amazing at such a young age he could repeat the music notes. His dad especially was amazing to do the things he does, great people with great hearts.

I just love to hear stories like this one! It reassures me to be humble, and appreciative for all that I have. It was inspirational when Patrick said, "not disabilities, only opportunities." This persuaudes me to believe that if you accept who you are you can reach your own greatest potential. For a thesis I would choose: Everyone is born with the potential to be great.

Very inspirational - - I love stories like this, where parents help a child find his true gift and sacrifice to make it come to full fruition. This segment was done with a blend of music, words that tugged on the emotional heart, all tying together to bind people together behind this young man. As to a thesis, I'd say, "Taking the 'dis' out of "disability'"

This is a touching and inspirational story. I don't know if I would be able to be as strong as Patrick's father, hopefully I would but it would definitely be difficult. Patrick shows us that we all must play the hand we were dealt as best as we possibly can. The thesis would be: Never give up faith and every child, even if disabled, are born with a gift.

I am so jealous of him. I can't play worth crap by ear and he can only play with his ear! He persuaded me to look for the achievements that all people are capable of and not the things that could potentially bring them down. my thesis would be: Who said disabilities have to be a bad thing?!?!

I that God each and every day that my baby was born with no diabilities.Seeing Patrick as an infant is devastating to me, but knowing that God gave him such a wonderful gift, the gift of music, I am so jealous. It's great to know that he and his father are so positive and overcoming obstacles.

This story is the most inspirational story that i have ever heard. The young man had a dream and he never gave up just because of his disability. My thesis for this story would be :dont let your dreams fly by just because you dont think you are good enough do it with your all your heart and you will conquir it.

Andrew says,

That was a great story. I can relate to patrick's story to a point. It persuaded me to keep on believing I can do anything if I set my mind to it. Thesis is what is taken away from you in one area is given back to you in another

I am speechless. There is no single word that can describe Patrick's strength, courage, and pride. People everyday in perfectly good health find reasons to complain why they can't do this or that, and here you have a man who was born with no eyes or the ability to ever take a step have such a beautiful and appreciative spirit. When Patrick defined his disability as an ability, that touched me the most. Watching this video made me take a deeper look into my life and the lives of my children and I can honestly mean it when I tell my children and myself there is no limit to what can be accomplished if you believe. WOW!! Its amazing how we get obstacles in life and we brag and brag about them and yet people with disabilities enjoy every day of theyr life and brag less than the ones who have it all.

That clip was so inspirational. I thought wow, a young toodler having talents a with his disabilities not being able to see or walk at such a young age is incredible. Patrick is not even unhappy with what he doesn't have aand thankful for what he does have makes me feel like I take so much for granted. He has a loving family with their support in everything he does is just great.

Yes--I agree, it was so touching and powerful--I really enjoyed reading your responses--remember, when you meet some one who has an "alternative" ability, always extend your hand, even if they have a different looking hand then yours or move it in a different way. My friends in the alternatively-abled community have taught me this is respectful etiquette! C U in class dawgs--S

This was an inspirational story. I was persuaded by this story not to feel sorry for myself and to believe that anything is truly possible. This young gentleman could easily have chosen to be angry at the world, but instead chose to positively embrace his situation and thrive at his talents.
