I havent laughed as much as I had in this class from anything in a long time so thank you. And sandra thanks for being just as crazy as the students in class.GOOD TIMES!!! Take care everyone.

Fortunately, I have never been asked to make a speech. I often find a way to avoid them. Taking this class has allowed me to take the risk to say a speech with confidence. Especially without feeling as if I have to rush my thoughts. This class has been wonderful. I enjoyed everyone as well. Bryce make sure you go to Med school to be a Pediatrician...children will crack up!!! Sandra thanks for being a real, caring teacher. It makes learning a bit easier. Good Luck to everyone.

I did a speech at my brothers wedding and was so nervous. I think now that I have taken your class that I am a more confident speaker. I didn't really have a body and a conclusion either in my speech and in a good speech, I know that is required. Thank you for all your help and encouragement Sandi! You're the best!

Speech in the past?! Are you kidding - - me get up in front of people to give a SPEECH?! No way! The only speeches I gave in the past were to my girls when they were teenagers (and they were a reluctant yet captive audience). But if could have given a special occasion speech knowing what I've learned in our class, it would have to have been for my parent's 50th wedding anniversary. Thanks for such a great class, Sandra!

my freshman year of highschool, we had to do a speech about something. that was pretty much it, just talk about something. being a very insecure twiggy braces-and-glasses freshman, i of course talked about how much i hated my glasses. i wanted contacts. i became a lot more confident after i started singing solos with my choir, but that speech would've been a lot better if i maybe had had more direction. but hey your first time isnt usually your best lol. ----Colleen

I have no clue what past speech I have made that I would have changed, there are so many to choose from. This class has helped me take what I learned in english and transfer it to public speaking, which has greatly improved my speaking. Thank you Sandra and Happy Holidays EVERYONE!

I did a speech about the book 'To Kill A Mockingbird' in my argumentation and debate class a while ago. After this class I would probably go back and completely change the entire topic. Although it is my favorite book I've learned that humor is one of the best things in life! I love laughing and I've enjoyed every moment in this class. Being a comms major I can honestly say I'll take that humor with me and try to make each speech I make more interesting and fun. I had a blast and I hope to see you at Sac State next semester Sandra!!!!

Well, the only actual speech I can remember giving was in English when I was like in 10th grade and I remember I was doing really good and then I realized everyone was looking at me... and I got really quiet and well, I think it was partly because I had dropped acid. So yeah I would definitely not do that again, but I think that is more because I am not that stupid anymore... but Sandra you are awesome anyway, and I will try to smile more, even though I am just not much of a smiler...
BTW everyone, if you need your taxes done by someone with a familiar face I am going to be working at the H & R Block at 29th and K this tax season, so come on down and make me some money!

Ahhhhhhhhh.....

A speech in the past??

I remember in the 5th-6th grade, I had to do a speech in front of the whooooole school for ASB treasury position...gosh now that I have been SANDRA-IZED... I wish I would've been a little bit slower!

But this semester, even though I was a little bit late on my speeches, it was such a great class to be in, from the very interesting topics we came up with our group speeches, to our informative and persuasive speeches, I loved it so much xD.

AHHH yes the famous "xD"

But this class, ever since my high school "theatrical" days...

It was amazing

...Well, when I was the new hire trainer at UPS, my first day was fun.. I showed up an half n hour late, though I was in the building, I wasn't in the room, and when I walked in I sort of looked confused, so they assumed I was a new hire too, and looked at me like, 'what is he doing shuffling through those papers' and then I said good morning (I think, I still don't remember), and the oldest guy in the class said, 'don't think you should go through that, I'm guessing thats for whoever is teaching'
...I said I am the trainer, and felt very awkward suddenly realize all of these guys were in there 30-40's, and I was let known when one guy leaned over and said, 'my son's teachin the class' ...but now in that room I am now comfortable, so.. my point is, if we could've just shifted that class over to that room, my comfort level would be very high, and my speeches better, how bout a re-do?!

During my junior year in high school, I was elected to attend the 2004 session of California’s Boy's State (a week long political program designed to imitate the government during the time of an election). During my stay at Boy's State I ran for and was eventually elected to the office of state treasurer. My point behind this story is that I had to make a speech in front of about 1,000 people, to get elected. At the time I had no speech experience and I remember sitting in front of the crowd saying my speech over and over again until I had it memorized. I had no outline and pretty much flew by the seat of my pants. If I had the speaking skills taught in this class, back then, then I would have had a structured outline and would not have had to memorize my speech. This class has been very helpful and I am sure that what I have learned will come in handy in the future.

It has been a pleasure flying with you all,

Bliss, Christopher

Mine are two funerals. One I DID speak at, but I was nervous and I have always felt bad that I wasn't very good and could have honored my uncle in a better way. The other I WANTED to speak at and SHOULD have, but I was again nervous, and based on that + previous experience I did not speak. (that was for my best friend's mom) Yet again, I've regretted not saying something.

However, now that I have a decent gameplan for such situations (specifically outline structure) and have a little more experience working the kinks out in class, I feel like I can go into just about any situation and say at least a little something!

Thanks Sandra, thanks fellow Saturdarians!

I would want to do my speech differently would be on my persuasion speech, our last speech, I feel that i could of done better. I shouldn't of wear my white sweater with the pockets in the front because I didn't know i have my hands in the pockets until i got comments about it. so that was really bad whichi think affect my grade..boo-oooo...and i should have brought all items needed to show how to make sushi instead of using pictures too. That what I would have done differently...beside that i have a really great time in the class. Everyone was really funny cracking jokes and very positive which i really like. Thanks for being such an awesome teacher you're the BEST!!!! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!! AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

in the 7th grade i ran for school president. i would go back and change the speech i gave to my fellow students. mostly because i was a very shy young fellow back then. i lacked the confidence i have now (thanks to my wonderful years of experience) when i give speechs. so i would go back and make that speech more raveenish. the class was awesome! have a good break everyone.

I accepted an award at a Christmas dinner last year and was so nervious that I could barly get a few words out. I'm happy to say that if I'm ever again faced with an on the spot award, or am otherwise asked to present an award on an impromptu basis, I would definately be more able to do so.

I was the ASB vice-President in my High school and for our graduation I had to make a speech and was really nervous but I overcame it although if I had your class before I wuld have been more ready and less nervous.

Back in highschool, for my electronics class (by the way, it was my worst presentation ever), I had to do a presentation on how the motion detector works. If I had the understanding of an informative speech, then more people would be awake in that class room.

I already told Sandra, but I'll post it here for the record... If I had taken this class before 2005, I would have given a toast at my sister's wedding. I really wanted to, and should have, but was too nervous. Hopefully I will NOT have another chance at that, but surely there'll be a different occasion where I can my new Sandra skills. Thanks!

Take care all!
