WoHOOOO!!! I am the first one to coment on this one...but what do we have to write about on this blog? A tip about speech anxiety?

One tip i know of is that practicing your speech really helps and knowing what you are talking about.

A tip about speech anxiety i would give would just be to be confident in yourself that the main key. Also practice is always good but mainly just have confidence in yourself.

Hello everyone!
A helpful way to get rid of speech anxiety is to practice your speech to your whole family! Pretend they are your classmates and get feedback from them afterwards. Then practice the speech again to them until you feel confident. This not only helps with speech anxiety, but also for memorization. Also, if your family isn't around, practice in front of a mirror! =)

Hellooo! Well... what helps me become more confident and less nervous is to really practice my speech a few times, take it seriously and try to practice in front of people or a mirror, and listen to myself speak. I find that for me, if i take my time saying my words and sentences, I feel more relaxed.. rather than saying something fast and getting nervous about how you sound and if you pronounced something wrong lol.

Thankyou All. Great ideas. still get nervous for loss of words. Don't talk much anyway. Afraid i would say the wrong thing. Even alittle nervous then i can't think. I really want to relax and give a good speech. Maybe after 100times. I have a friend that pictures people in their underwear. Rather not go there. I look at the wall, but try to look at faces. I was just wondering if you all think if Drunk Driving would be a good topic for my persuasive speech.

For me i deal with being nervous by being well prepared, i have found the more i practice the easier it is to say what i need to say and sound good. I just say my speech over and over as i am getting ready like in front of the mirror and stuff. Plus the more confidence you have in what you are saying, the more confidence you will have in yourself. Before i speak i usually take a few deep breaths and reasure myself to calm my nerves :D

And Jackie, what happened to your speech about massages?? if you arent doing that anymore i am sure drunk driving would be interesting as well :)

A good way to get over speech anxiety is to take a deep breathe before you start. Also have a bottle of water with you so if you feel yourself getting too nervous take a sip, it will calm you down and you will be able to collect your thoughts.

I think a great way to minimized speech anxiety is to be organized and know what your going to say. Organization is the key for a great speech. If you don't know what your going to say, your going to panic. That panic is your anxiety. Lisa is funny, I don't think practicing in front of family is a great idea, it makes you lazier and you get away from errors easier. I suggest the mirror or pets and try not to laugh. =)

I would enjoy Jacquelyne demonstration of massage since my lower back is hurting. are you still doing that demonstration?

see you all tomorrow, if i make it alive tonight.

As Charlie mentioned, organization is the key for a great speech. My friend told me a good way to get over speech anxiety is to imagine your audience naked. I don't think is going to work for me becuse I will laugh.HA HA HA

Helllo everyone! I always get nervous before speeches and something that I do is positive talk! When I am nervous, I tell myself that "It's not that bad" or "Be confident" or "It's going to be easy" etc. But you must not be too over confident without practice, you must practice to do well! Another thing that makes me less nervous is when people smile. When I see people smiling it makes me feel relaxed. So, smile for me everyone! =)

Hey people.
what works best for me when giving a speech is i just laugh off the nerves. As you all have probably noticed I crack up in the middle of most of my speeches. It's almost always good to add a some humor to your speech and it gives the audience a sense of comfort as well.

Right before delivering a speech, i usually drink a sip of water. It helps me clear my throat and somehow calm me down.

Be prepared is the best way to avoid speech anxiety. I did many different ways in the process of preparation, such as speak to my friends, listen to youtubers' speeches(i did that for impromptu speech), and practice as many times as possible, or even memorize my speech.

thanks to that army guy in our class his advice really helped me on the speech where we draw a subject make a speech on it within a few minutes. I was already nervous once the asighnment was givin. the butterflys were just exploding in my stumic. i thought it was imposible to come up with a speech with in a few minutes. i was aready thinkin a buying some smokes to calm me down but after i had that talk i was really relieves. He told me " if u lay out the diffents between a life and death situation where u going to get shot any time or watching a grenade explode infront of you and a regular speech that everyone has to do some day." I amediatly thought it was not gonna work and i was gonna laghf and say that dosnt work but after the imagize of dying poped in my head i relaxed and thank god i was in a life or death situation.

and shout out to the army guy thanks for the advice dude! I well axe my next speach!!!=]

So my tip is pretty simple...just act like you are talking to friends. Act as you would if these people in front of you are close to you and will not judge you harshly.

practice, practice, PRACTICE. Getting a good sense of what you're saying for your speech will help a lot. Read your notes over and over so if you go blank, you might remember something.

Hello,
I find myself to do a lot of gesturing with my hands. And as many of you have already said, "practice". Also, be organized. I am already nervous just thinking about how not to be nervous.

Some tips about speech anxiety would be to practice your speech and focus more on the message you are trying to send rather than your anxiousness. also to breathe in and out slowly.

The best tip about speech anxiety is PRACTICE! PRACTICE! and...PRACTICE!!!(Oh!so boring!) I know that is boring and everyone know it, but not everyone will do it before the speech.(like me) Speak ten times of your speech then you will remember the speech and redece speech anxiety.

As practicing a speech is the best way, it is healthy to remember that you probably know more about the subject than everyone else, so you actually have the upper hand. This will definitely help with one's confidence. I think that helps most people in their speeches.

You guys have given really good tips. I think it's important to practice the speech too. Also, it helps if you can improvise in case you forget parts of your speech because the audience won't have a copy of your outline.

Before the speech, I think about myself for a moment. I believe that I can do it well. Then I just take a deep breath.Especially, I let my mind think free. It works for me though. If I think about a speech before delivering, I definitely will forget what to say

This is the first time I have looked at the blog since my last class. Guess I would say, take a deep breath and remember we are all in the same boat. All of us will be up there sooner or later. JoAnn
