Sandra, Great job with the fundraiser, I did not get to walk around to much, but im sure your area was the best, well maybe 2nd best, that guy ranting and raving about, who knows what was drawing a big crowd. Like Alfredo said, the jewlery and the pastries i think helped out a lot. it is nice to get something in return when donating to a worthy cause, it shows that there is some appreciation, even if it is not from people that the money is directly helping, again great job, it was a lot of fun to help out and experience earth day.

Hey everyone!
I'm playing catch up from here in Colombus, Ohio right now but I will see all of you tomorrow in class as my plane gets in tomorrow early afternoon.
COMMUNICATION IN FUNDRAISING
Communication is evident in fundraising in that it involves a group trying not just to communicate a need to others, but to creatively think of needs that others have as incentive. It's a trade off (eg., "I'll sell you a See's Candy Bar if you give me one dollar, proceeds go to such and such organization")
It is understanding your audience, and communicating your purpose and secondly the WIFM (What's In It For Me), because let's face it, there's tons of fundraisers out there and people won't give to them all -- so you either have to strike a chord of interest in what you are raising funds for, or your product should.
This takes many levels of communication: Planning, setting up (where? When? how much?) and then actual putting your interpersonal skills to test and selling.
Donating and helping others when they are in need expresses that you are concerned about them. It shows that you are helpful, unselfish, and caring. It also gives us a chance to get away from indulging in our own lives, and give thought and time to other things that we may take for granted. It's nice to know that you can make a change in your life to make a change in others'.
